I Started Playing Badminton Again June 21st, 2008
Yesterday, I went to play badminton with my dad. Finally coming back to some sports after 2 months of pure eat sleep, but amazingly my weight still hovers at 60kg. Well, I am gonna get it down to 58kg, 60kg still seems heavy! I have to start scheduling my gym sessions, sports as well as finger exercise aka PS3!
So, the badminton was fun but unfortunately my dad’s power was too strong until something like this happened.

I have never broken a badminton string before, no matter how hard I hit, how hard I try. I guess I don’t do a lot of skillful shots like slicing shots or drop shots which incur more friction. What I like is just hard smashing, which also reflects quite a lot of my personality, always seeking the fast and rash way to solve things. I should perhaps learn to take things calmly and be less rash and aim for quality work.

Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit & Fifa Street 3 June 19th, 2008

I realised I can’t live with only 2 games on my PS3 (Army of Two & Assassin’s Creed), so I went to buy 2 new games (as titled) to cure my boredom. Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit is one of the much anticipated games in my list. Not only does it brings me back the memory of childhood, the fast gameplay and HD cartoon is sort of crisp and clear, HD gaming does indeed offer a luxury gaming experience as compared to the past, 2D and pixelatted. On the other hand, Fifa was never in my list, but the short brain-less gameplay makes me buy it, just to distress myself once in awhile. The simple button controls and shaolin soccer like gameplay is real cool and simply fun!
I bought them from Gamemart, 1-stop midlands. The buying experience was great overall despite the long delay of Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Dragon Ball and FIfa Street 3 were Rm170 and RM90 respectively

PS3 Fever June 16th, 2008

I am back in Penang for a week or more already, it feels good to come home ya! And here I spend most of my time playing Playstation 3. Assassin’s Creed is really hot, pretty graphics and fighting scene, especially the killing part where all the blood splurt and spray. I am getting my Dragon Ball Burst Limit today, it will be a great game I hope!

Apple 3G is coming our way June 11th, 2008

Finally iPhone is heading to Asia, and I think Singapore is gonna get it in September if I’m not wrong. Sadly, it’s still not available in Malaysia yet. The new iPhone is merely a $199 USD, have you regretted buying your iPhone? Its twice as fast, half the price, as said by Apple.com.
This may sound like a good news to many, but not to me. I was disappointed that Apple did not update their Macbook series, at least the design of the Macbook? I may be getting a Macbook Pro soon and I don’t want to find out after two weeks that a new update is out. Its a dilemma to wait or to buy first. Nonetheless, iPhone 3G is a sure buy for me! Maybe queuing like the
Well, iPhone is sure a pretty piece of art to own, but if you are intending to change a new handset, I would recommend you to look into some other good phones like HTC DIAMOND, N96 and many more. Who knows Symbian Touch is much better? I am still a fan of symbian afterall, I just love the intuitive user interface.

I took a photo with Kungfu Panda June 7th, 2008

I went to watch Kungfu panda yesterday with my gf. The movie was hilarious and the laughs were mostly on due to the stupidity or the lameness of the panda. The actions are fun to watch and the graphics are qutie awesome. Computer graphics aka CG is getting better and better these days and often the 3D background seems true to life.
After the movie, there was this Panda outside the cinema, so I took a nice photo with it him. He was so cute, and we are given free stickers too. Publicity eh?
A few of the much anticipating movies are coming up this summer, WALL.E, WANTED, HANCOCK, GET SMART and more!

You can’t fly if you are FAT! June 6th, 2008

Interestingly, Indian Court ruled that Airlines have the right to prevent overweight airhostess from flying. Head down the to BBC to find out more!
Not that I discriminate fat people, don’t you think people look prettier, more comfortable and etc if they are slim or just alright? Not too slim not too fat! So, be careful of what you eat and the amount you eat to stay pretty and of course, just in case you may be barred from entering the aircraft.

Fuel Price to increase by 40.6% in the Malay-land tonight! June 4th, 2008

Quick, go and refuel your tank now or you’ll have to pay RM2.70 per litre tomorrow. Don’t be surprised to see long queue and shortage too! The government has just announced the fuel hike about 4 hrs ago. I bet we’re gonna see complains and rants from the poor Malaysians in the days to come. In Malaysia where the public transports are not well connected at least the system is screwed up in where I live, Penang, we rely heavily on cars and motorcycles. (there are attempts for improvement though, with the introduction of Rapid Penang) This fuel hike will translate to lower standard of living as we can afford less of other products, which means almost the whole economy will be affected! The government was short-sighted and is always one. They hardly make plans for future, instead they practice protectionism on local industries (e.g. Proton) as well as supporting heavily on a group of people who hardly contribute anything to the society.
It’s so abrupt that the announcement and decision are done within a mere 2 days. Yesterday, we saw the announcement of new oil subsidy plan. Some may think more subsidy, but you’re wrong! The revised subsidy is such that the government pay less and the motorists pay more! Who knows the hawker stall that you frequent tomorrow will tell you that their chicken rice has increased by 40.6%? While everything is going up, salary is remaining stagnant. Who is there to be blamed? I would say the wrong practice of protectionism is to blame for resulting in such a rash rectification move. Well, this BIG move may indicate the serious tone of the government in wanting a change as they are risking their support away from the majority of economic-idiots who only want subsidy and subsidy, for the greater future of the economy. As the Malaysia’s economy is gearing towards the free market way, this is when we may see increase in salary and standard of living in the long term, and more importantly improving in our exchange rate, it’s now at a freaking RM2.38 for a Singaporean dollar! I want to complain too, what’s happening with the forex department!
I thought the government promised not to increase petrol prices in accordance to rakyat’s wish? Another empty promise, again!
Rice, barley, fuel, and what’s next? The prices of ‘charges and electrons’ are next. Electricity price is scheduled for a 18% increase for home and 26% for business. Well, all the best to everyone as the prices go up. At least, the very caring and sincere government is trying to ease of our consumers’ burden by reducing the road tax and vehicle rebate of up to RM200 and RM650 respectively. Very helpful indeed, maybe it’s time to change to a smaller car! We shall wait and see what’s the reaction of the public then. Stay tune!
May Allah God bless Malaysia.
If you have an opinion, why not tell it directly to the PM, aka Pak Lah at this link-www.warkahuntukpm.com.my. It supports 4 languages, cool shit ya? The site says you will get direct response from the PM, do you believe that? Try it and tell me if Adullah does reply you. Cheers!
*A lil update: The queue for Petrol was really long. My brother has gone to the petrol station nearby and took short clip. Interestingly, but predictably, people are willing to queue hours to save themselves their some money. I thought time is more precious?

Firefox Download Day 2008 June 4th, 2008

Hey dudes, June is gonna be a very exciting month, not to mentioned the very much anticipated iPhone 3G launch on APPLE WWDC, we are also going to have the Firefox Download Day 2008, which aims to break the Guiness World Record of most software download in a day. The development team seems very confident in meeting their target. I think this is a very creative way of marketing the software, and of course, Firefox does live up to its name and it’s one of the very best browsers I’ve ever used. The ability of customisation and numerous plugins (I heart Firebug, Splitbrowser and Piclens) are great for work and daily use, except for the occasional crashing due to the incompatibility of plugins.

As of now, more than 500k people have pledged to download Firefox 3 on the day of release and I believe this number will only grow exponentially as the words are spread across the world.
Since it’s such a great browser (I think Safari is better in performance and stability, I use it to do my blog entries, I hate crashes) in terms of usability, let’s do a part in breaking this Guiness World Record for the Mozilla team! Simply click on the images above to pledge yourself, learn more here and spread the words now!
Oh, on the Firefox Download Day site, I tried to check out the number of people who have pledged for the download and I realised my mouse will never hover accurately on that particular Singapore pixel (a little red dot indeed), it was either showing the stats of Malaysia or Indonesia. Small aye? Nonetheless, I checked it out from the dropdown menu and Singapore has about 2900 pledges, and of course USA owns the bulk of the pledges at about 111k. Is it that the technological scene hasn’t really taken off here or people are still loyal fans of IE?
Anyway, FYI, Firefox RC1 is already out and I am using it already. Do check it out!

Sony VAIO SZ. Why not Macbook Pro? June 2nd, 2008

When it comes to laptops, which are the brands that come straight to your mind? For me, its no other than Mac or Vaio, just because of the aesthetics of their laptop lines. Of course, everyone would say that these beautiful looking machines are highly overpriced and the money/performance ratio does not worth. Nonetheless, it depends on personal preferences, financial ability, brand loyalty.. of the buyer. Myself, I want a laptop which I feel comfortable using it and also looking at it since the look of the laptop will probably affect my
mood hence productivity. I want one which i feel good using it. Although I have a tough time choosing between Macbook Pro and a Vaio SZ79, my decision fell eventually to the Japanese made. The OS [Vista vs OS X], weight [1.69kg vs 2.5kg] and battery life [5hrs vs 2.5hrs] are my only consideration factors since both are equally ‘handsome’. Apparently, Vaio won the race.
Everyone who saw this laptop before will agree with me that it’s more of an artpiece. The razer thin screen is hot, and it brought me all the “wah-wow!” from everybody. Also, the white LED screen produce the best colour I have ever seen in laptop LCD. It’s bright till the extent that I normally tune down the brightness by 2 notch.
However, as usual, Sony bundled in tonnes of extra softwares into this machine like Roxio, Adobe Photo Elements, Sonic Stage etc, some of which you will never use even once during the lifetime of the computer. I din’t really bother to uninstall them, but most people do like a fresh install of the OS which enhances the performance for sure, if you are thinking to do a fresh copy of your Windows on Vaio, do read out the guide first and don’t do things rashly like me.
Needless to say, the processor is one of the fastest in the mobile computing arena. Photoshop CS3 loads in 3 seconds.(fastest booting, normally 5-7 seconds) I shan’t really go too much into the technical aspects, but one thing to highlight, the graphic card 8400GS is just average, not good, so don’t expect it to run too smoothly if you install too much eyecandy stuff like Switcher (one of my favourite, equavalent to OSX’s expose).
If you are really a person who needs a laptop which really works like a workhorse on the run, SZ is definitely the choice over anyother laptop, just because it gives you battery life and performance. Normal work like Websurfing, MSN chatting through Wifi can last about 5-6 hrs before the battery is completely flat. What more can it do if the extended battery is plugged in? It can easily last 8-9 hrs before you need to search for your power adapter. So if you ask me what is Vaio SZ or what so good about Vaio SZ?
Stylish, professional looking and powerful machine, clad in carbon, weighing less than 4 pounds!
